Farthing Details: Diameter : 20mm Weight : 2.7 - 2.9g Obverse Design: Victoria's bust facing left, abbreviated legend is as follows: VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D: (Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of Britains, Defender of the Faith) Reverse Design: Seated Britannia facing right, holding a shield and trident, with the word "FARTHING" above, and the date below. Tougher Dates (Hardest First): 1863, 1895, 1876H, 1892, 1869, 1872 and 1880 Dates not produced: 1870, 1871, 1877 and 1889 H below Date: Several dates are found in this series with a "H" below the date (1874, 1875, 1876, 1881 and 1882). These coins were not minted at the Royal mint, but were produced in Birmingham by Ralph Heaton & Sons. |
